The 2009 Pubcrawl
Welcome to Information Central for the 2009 PiratePalooza™ Pubcrawl. When this year’s pubcrawl becomes history we’ll move it into the list at the right so you can relive the wild abandon of past Paloozas. If you’ve come for information on a previous year’s pubcrawl that’d be the place to be digging.

The Date
Saturday, Septembarrrrrr 19th, 2009 (International Talk Like a Pirate Day)

Time/Schedule
This year the Palooza is divided into two distinct chapters: the pubcrawl and the concert, with a one hour break in between. The PiratePaloozaâ„¢ Pubcrawl begins at 1:30pm and lasts until 6:00pm. The PiratePaloozaâ„¢ PubSing begins at 6:30pm and lasts until 10:00pm, if not later.

The Pubcrawl
The pubcrawl features four locations this year: Twain’s (1:30pm-2:30pm), The Brick Store (2:45pm-4:00pm), the Commodore Stephen Decatur Plaza (above the MARTA station)(4:05pm-4:30pm) and Eddie’s Attic (4:35pm-6:00pm). Note that we’ll try to begin departure for each location on the crawl 10 or 15 minutes before that next location’s arrival time, so if you want to walk with us be sure to pay for your food/drink well ahead of our transition. AND, if you’re enjoying yourself at a particular location, don’t worry about trying to catch up to us… stay where you aarrrrrrr and represent the Palooza with pride!

The PubSing (a pirate concert)
The PubSing will take place at the James Joyce Irish Pub in Avondale Estates and will begin around 6:30pm, thirty minutes after the pubcrawl has been completed. The PubSing will feature bands who play traditional sea chanteys, traditional Irish music, and a few fun extras tossed in for good measure. The Joyce has good parking, but as the crowd grows you may need to park on side streets and other nearby locations.

History of the Pubcrawl
Dreamed of by Captain Drew, greatly and fabulously abetted, planned and engineered by Fiona Leonard, Geoffrey Brown and Tracy Wilson, the very first PiratePalooza™ Pubcrawl debuted in 2005 where it netted round about 100 patrons, both pirate and lubbers. It featured music by a great gaggle of extremely popular Renaissance Festival music groups and much ale, wine, grog and port were consumed by the attendees. Many grand hangovers were born that night and the event became legend in short order.

You’ll find photos from the PiratePalooza™ Pubcrawl at the PiratePalooza™ Community at Flickrrrr, which you can quickly access from the Photos page on this here webdoodle.
